Overview

Balanced vertical sliding (BVS) secondary glazing mirrors the operation of a traditional sash window, sliding vertically using a spring-balance mechanism that holds panels at any height. It sits discreetly within the window reveal and is virtually invisible from outside the property.

Tilt-In Facility

The TBVS (Tilt-Back Balanced Vertical Slider) allows each panel to pivot inwards through 180° for cleaning without removing the unit. The SPBVS (Slide Past) allows both panels to slide completely past one another for unrestricted access.

Sizes

BVS: max width 1,575mm, max height 3,325mm, max weight 45kg. TBVS: max width 1,568mm, max height 3,025mm. All with woolpile and Q-Lon seals for enhanced performance. Compatible with arched windows.

Glass Options

Classic: 4.0mm toughened (max 1.5m² panel). Enhanced: 6.0mm through 10.8mm acoustic laminate (up to 2.7m² panel).

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between BVS and TBVS?

+
BVS is a standard balanced vertical slider. TBVS incorporates a tilt-in facility for cleaning without removing the unit. TBVS is slightly smaller (max 1,568mm × 3,025mm vs 1,575mm × 3,325mm).

Is this right for my Victorian sash windows?

+
Yes. BVS/TBVS secondary glazing is specifically designed for sash windows. It slides vertically, sits within the reveal, and is virtually invisible from outside.

Can I still open my sash windows?

+
Yes. The secondary glazing slides independently. The tilt-in facility (TBVS) also allows both faces to be cleaned without removing the unit.

What noise reduction is achievable?

+
Up to 80% noise reduction (54dB) with 6.8mm acoustic laminate and 150-200mm reveal-fixed cavity.
